Clark & Co's 'Anchor Machine Cotton' thread/string dispenser in the form of a globe. The wooden globe comes apart into two halves and inside has a label with the company's details. There are scuffs and marks to the surface of the globe as expected from an item of this age and material. Each half is covered with 12 paper segments, there is small patch of loss over the top of Africa, apart from that the paper is well attahced with minor lifting in places, the two halves join together well. The turned and ebonised base has retained it's finish well.
English, circa 1900.
