An original vintage advertising sign for Elder Dempster Lines - Express Mail Service.

This unusual advertising board is in good original unrestored condition. The frame is solid and intact and the printed card has retained it's vibrant colour to the illustrations, although there are the usual scuffs, marks and scrapes as expected from an item of this age and material. There is a plaque to the top with the company's name.  The lower part of this rare sign has three spaces for interchangable details to be added and altered, three of these original information cards are still present. This scarce piece of vintage transportation advertising would make a great addition to any collection.

Elder Dempster Lines was a UK shipping company that traded from 1932 to 2000, with it's origins in the 19th century. In 1932 Elder Dempster Shipping Ltd, together with the African Steamship Company, and the British & African Steam Navigation Company, came under the Elder Dempster Lines name. The company operated from British ports, mainly Liverpool where it was based, to West African destinations. It ran numerous cargo ships and a small number of passenger liners.
