Salter Standard No.6 typewriter.
This rare and unusual typewriter has retained much of it's orginal black paint, gold lettering, logos and pinstripes however they all have the usual marks and scuffs as expected from a well used items of this age. The cast iron body of the machine is free from any cracks or chips, although the chrome plating has worn away and the exposed metal work has surface rust. The key strokes work and the type heads contact the platen, unfortunately, the carriage doesn't move along when typing and is very intermittent using the space bar, it will move smoothly when the sprung release at the end of the carriage is pressed. The rollers rotate well when the knob is turned. This typewriter would make a great addition to any collection and will restore well.
English, circa 1905.
