A rare watchmaker's tool grinder by The Perfection Grinder Co, Boston, with patent date August 17th 1904.
This wonderful cast iron machine has a large hand operated drive wheel with it's original handle and is finished in black with gilt decoration. It appears to be in working order although it will need a replacement belt to connect the drive wheel to the mechanism. The clamp and tool rest are secured by a wing nut and as the drive wheel is turned the mechanism moves horizontally passing the tool across the sharpening/grinding stone which rotates at the same time. This unusual and fantastically well engineered tool would make a great addition to any collection. There are scuffs, marks, scrapes and patches of surface rust as expected from a well used item of this age and material.
Please remember that you are purchasing vintage items. They have lived a life and will have the age related wear which gives the items their original and unique character.
